When it comes to desktop vaporizers, there are tons of different options out in the market right now. Different specifications, functions, and price ranges can make it difficult to choose the right one for your vaping needs. That being said, we’re here to take a look at two of the best desktop vaporizers.
The Volcano is widely known as the best desktop vaporizer due to its quality, ease of use, and efficiency. It’s a classic - they’ve been around since the early 2000s, released the digital version in 2007, and are continuing to set the standard for vaporizers to this day. The Volcano itself is built extremely well and produces quality vapor with good taste, temperature, and density. It’s perfect for everyday use and will last you a long while because of its durability. The vaporizer uses an aluminum heating core that allows for an even distribution of heat, contributing to the superb quality of vapor.
The Volcano uses hot air to inflate a plastic bag to store your vapor. The bag is then detached from the vaporization system so that it can be passed around to use with friends or wherever you’d like. There are two options for the bags - either the Easy Valve option or Solid Valve. The Easy Valve system requires almost no maintenance. The balloons are a single size and can be thrown out after use. The Solid Valve offers customizable balloon sizes and a higher quality mouthpiece, but needs to be cleaned. The Easy Valve option is slightly more expensive to maintain because you have to purchase new balloons more frequently. The vaporization process and quality of vapor are both the same, it’s just a matter of which bag the vapor is filled in. If you’re willing to pay for the convenience of not worrying about cleaning and maintenance, then the Easy Valve option is for you. Otherwise, if custom bag sizes and a higher quality mouthpiece are important to you, I would recommend the Solid Valve.
The Volcano also comes in two models, the Digital and the Classic. The Digital Volcano is the newer version of the vaporizer, with a digital display and temperature control buttons on the front. It comes with an automatic shutoff feature that turns off the device when it’s not used for more than 30 minutes. The Classic version is essentially the same device, it just uses an analog dial to control the temperature rather than a digital display, and does not have the automatic shutoff timer.
The one drawback of the Volcano vaporizer is the cost. I will say it’s not cheap (with the Digital version priced at $599 and Classic at $479), but you get what you pay for. The quality is superb and the experience is like no other. It’s durable, easy to use, and efficient when it comes to preserving your product.
Arizer Extreme Q Vaporizer
For a cheaper alternative, the Extreme Q vaporizer is an excellent option. It’s a dual purpose vaporizer that has the functionality to work with balloons and whips. It’s easy to operate, durable, and comes with a digital display that allows you to adjust the temperature one degree at a time. A couple hundred dollars cheaper than the Volcano, the Extreme Q is a reliable product at a competitive price point.
One of the main advantages of the Extreme Q vaporizer is that it can be used in different ways. You can fill bags through a forced air system or draw vapor through a whip. The bag / balloon method allows for movement around a room so you can share with friends, however, there is no valve system so you have to keep your finger over the opening to prevent the vapor from leaking out. It takes around two to three minutes to fill the bag, so maybe not the best option for people looking for instant gratification. For those people, the whip can do just that. The Extreme Q allows you to use the whip by direct draw, where you use your lungs to get vapor through the whip, as well as with forced air from the fan. This flexibility allows for a session that’s catered to your liking.
Other benefits of the Extreme Q include an LED light display on the bottom, a remote control option, and a relatively quiet fan noise. The vaporizer comes with a lifetime warranty on the ceramic heating element and a three year warranty on defects in material and workmanship. The one negative aspect is that the cyclone bowl that you use to heat your product can get very hot - hot to the point where you shouldn’t touch it. This can easily be solved by picking up a pair of test tube clamps or just waiting for it to cool down, so the con is outweighed by all the pros of this vaporizer. Overall, the Extreme Q is a superb product at an affordable price and gives the Volcano a run for its money as the “best desktop vaporizer”.
